The Art of Giving Yourself Grace

Yes....there is grace for your mistakes

Is there grace for women? This may seem like a very odd question, but it was one that came up as I ran across a video of a woman online who was practically pleading for her audience to give her the grace to learn from a previous mistake she had made.

Apparently, this woman is a very popular influencer who recently had a baby out of wedlock with a man she had only known for a short period and whom she is no longer with.

Though this isn’t necessarily uncommon, I can’t get around the scrutiny women face when they make these sort of mistakes. And it brought the question to mind, “Is there grace for women?”

Now obviously, there is. But I do notice in our society that women are judged more harshly for their mistakes, while men sort of get the “boys will be boys” pass. For example, I remember following a preacher online who announced he was having a child out of wedlock. Nobody batted an eye, and rightfully so as I don’t believe we should kick a man while he’s down. However, I did think to myself, “If this were a woman in his same position, she would likely get dragged in the comment section and harshly judged.”

I find that there is this misconception in our society that women don’t struggle with certain things as much as men do, therefore, there is more grace extended to men and more scrutiny handed to women who dare to make the same mistakes.

This leaves many women feeling isolated and afraid to speak up about their struggles due to the fear of being ridiculed. But there is grace for you as a woman, even if you have made the worst of mistakes.
